The acrylic, oil or casein paintings in this gallery consist of original plein air and/or studio landscape paintings. I enjoy painting outdoors (‘en plein air’) because direct observation informs me as an artist in ways that photographs cannot. What I learn on location becomes part of a skill set which I can apply to my studio paintings. In addition, being in nature with the birds and critters recharges my inner batteries! These are square thumbnails selected from somewhere on the original rectangular painting. To see the complete painting, simply click on it. “The highest problem of every art is, by means of appearances, to produce the illusion of a loftier reality.”
