The acrylic and oil paintings in this gallery consist of plein air and studio paintings. I enjoy painting outdoors (‘en plein air’) because my observations of the changing light, colors and weather inform me as an artist in ways that working from photographs cannot and become part of a skill set which I can apply to my studio paintings. Besides, being in nature with the birds and critters recharges my inner batteries!  To see the complete image and read a little description, click on each thumbnail. A glimpse of the Concei Valley, Italy

Picture 4 of 27

This lovely spot was a 20 minute walk up the Concei Valley near Enguiso, Italy. Walter's aunt and I painted and sketched in this area and loved visiting it to watch and talk about how the colors would so dramatically change with each change of weather or time of day! I painted this in Italy but had to touch up a couple of things when I got home. 11” x 14” acrylic on canvas.
