The acrylic and oil paintings in this gallery consist of plein air and studio paintings. I enjoy painting outdoors (‘en plein air’) because my observations of the changing light, colors and weather inform me as an artist in ways that working from photographs cannot and become part of a skill set which I can apply to my studio paintings. Besides, being in nature with the birds and critters recharges my inner batteries!  To see the complete image and read a little description, click on each thumbnail. Waiting for a Word (sold)

Picture 5 of 27

Whenever I arrive at a favorite estate where we are welcomed to paint, this amazing dog is waiting. He jumps eagerly into the gold cart for the ride to the painting spot, runs wild through the pastures, then comes back to beg the question, "Are you coming with me?" I have never seen a dog run like the wind as he does! (18" x 14" acrylic on linen)
