I often paint outdoors, either on my own, with friends or at special invitational events. The experience of being in nature with the birds and critters, watching the changing light, colors and weather connects me directly and totally with the world around me. It informs me as in artist in ways that working from photographs cannot and gives me the opportunity to contemplate in ‘real time’ the metaphors I imagine I see. The paintings in this gallery are either ala prma (one session with no added changes) or plein air paintings (painted on location in one or two sessions). If you enlarge them you will see them in their original sizes and can read a little story about each. Click the enlargement to see the painting on a dark background. To move to the next gallery, select the drop down menu or scroll to the links at the bottom of the page. Please contact me if you wish to purchase an available painting.

“To see the world in a grain of sand, And a heaven in a wild flower,
hold infinity in the palm of your hand, an eternity in an hour.”
